• When used as a 1-U Thermal solution the onboard fan is removed to make this heat sink a passive cooler. But while being used as a 1-U passive heat sink it is important that the server have ducted air to ensure proper heat dispersion.
• When used as a 2-U, or standard desktop style, the fan is left on the unit and ducted air is not required because the onboard fan is capable of dispersing the heat.
